Beautiful Christian Sister-

Someone recently asked me about my faith…. A “What are you?” Kind of question… my answer was lame— this is what I wished I’d said….
‘A woman’s heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.’

When I say… ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not shouting ‘I’m clean livin” I’m whispering ‘I was lost, Now I’m found and forgiven.’

When I say… ‘I am a Christian’ I don’t speak of this with pride. I’m confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say… ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not trying to be strong. I’m professing that I’m weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say.. ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not bragging of success. I’m admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say… ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not claiming to be perfect, My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.
When I say… ‘I am a Christian’ I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heart aches, so I call upon His name.
When I say… ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not holier than thou, I’m just a simple sinner Who received God’s good grace, somehow!
As far as the pox that is upon us (the sickness going through the house) …. we’re recovering (or taking turns being sick- I suppose…. one after another…. regardless of how many things I sanitize… I think my nasal passages are permanently scarred from Lysol. ) … + I’m currently down with another hormonal migraine:(    HATE that
I forgot to link to my post at Laced With Grace on Saturday— please pop over for a devotional

  1. Oh my word, I love this little poem! It makes me think of what I was really trying to say when talking to my two girl friends on our city trip this weekend! What and absolutly wonderful way to say what I am! Thanks!

  2. Just a friendly “by the way”. You do have the author’s name correct, however, this isn’t actually what she titled it, nor what she actually wrote. It is similar, but I thought you might be interested in the original. 🙂 You can find the rightful, original poem at carolwimmer.com.
I agree I wish I could give my reasons for my faith so eloquently, and thought you might enjoy reading her unspoiled words the way she penned them.

  3. Thnx- I had edited the post (originally attributed incorrectly – common internet error- my bad- I had linked (still is)the title to the author’s site- her (original version) is copyrighted -so I linked instead of changing the post to include it- thnx for clarifying;)
